(2024-11-02) October - Month of the Rosary

October is a special time in the Catholic Church - a month dedicated to the prayer of the Rosary, which unites us in contemplation of the lives of Jesus and Mary. It is during this period each year that we daily we gather at the statue of Our Lady to pray the rosary together with the parishioners. Rosary. It is one of my parishioners' favourite prayers. We pray in ChiBemba, the local language, which gives the prayer a special depth and makes it even closer to the hearts of the parishioners. Hearing their words in ChiBemba, I feel a special bond between us - the the community and Our Lady. It is a beautiful experience of unity, where faith, tradition and culture come together in this simple but powerful prayer.   more >>

(2024-10-31) n Memory of Fr. Jan Krzysztoń: Missionary to Zambia and Honorary Chaplain to the Pope

Ten years ago, on the feast day of Our Lady, Help of Christians, Fr. Jan Krzysztoń passed away. His departure left a deep void but also a profound sense of gratitude—for the kindness and dedication he brought to the communities of Mpunde and Chilumba, where he served faithfully as a missionary. Fr. Jan Krzysztoń was born on September 25, 1951, in Godziszów and was ordained as a priest on June 8, 1975. He discovered his missionary calling while working as a vicar in Kraśnik Fabryczny. In 1987, he set off for Zambia, where, as he put it, he began his "second life." In Mpunde, he served as parish priest for 25 years, preaching the Gospel with the late Cardinal Adam Kozłowiecki. In 2013, he took up a new pastoral mission in the recently established parish of Chilumba. ON MAY 24, we remember Fr. Jan Krzysztoń as a man of devotion who lived each day in service to others. May his life and ministry continue to inspire, and may his memory remain alive in our hearts. more >>

(2024-10-31) Insala means: Hunger

In Zambia, where we have been serving for 24 years, we are witnessing an unprecedented drought and hunger crisis. The word Insala, meaning hunger in ChiBemba, echoes everywhere. This year’s rainy season—which should last from November to April to ensure a good corn harvest—only began in January and ended by early March. We watched with heavy hearts as the corn withered in the fields before the cobs could even form. Many wells have dried up, and people now walk for kilometers just to collect drinking water. Home vegetable gardens are no longer feasible. The cost for a seven-member family, surviving on one meal a day, is around 350 Kwacha (16 USD) for a bag of cornmeal. Seeds and fertilizer are also necessary, adding another 40 USD. Supporting a single family costs 225 PLN. We need your help to support around 250 families in the parish. Every contribution makes a difference in this crisis. For more information on how you can help, visit the Current Needs section. We will provide updates on the situation in Mpunde and on the aid being delivered. May God bless you for every act of kindness. more >>
